ABSTRACT

The modern world is faced with a growing need for communication between people who speak different languages. Synchronous interpretation, being an important element in such situations, is gaining increasing importance as the work of a synchronous interpreter is very complex. However, the impact of the synchronous interpretation process on the psychological aspect of participants and listeners remains understudied[2]. This study aims to explore and analyze the influence of synchronous interpretation mentalese on individual psychology.

Keywords: Mentalese, synchronous interpretation, communication, cognitive processes, psychology, impact.

Synchronous interpretation requires the interpreter to mentally capture and process information on the fly, which places a high burden on cognitive processes. Listening and simultaneously interpreting heavily burden the brain's work. Research shows that the intensity of this burden can affect the interpreter's concentration, attention, memory, and mental state. These factors, in turn, can impact the quality of interpretation and the overall perception of information by the audience[1]. Synchronous interpretation mentalese can also affect the emotional state of participants in the process. The responsibility for accuracy and timely information delivery can cause stress for the interpreter, which is reflected in their emotional background. It is understandable that listeners may experience misunderstandings if the mentalese of interpretation is not synchronized with their expectations. These emotional aspects play an important role in the overall perception of communication.[3] The mental burden of synchronous interpretation can also affect the overall psychological comfort of communication participants. Research shows that the level of satisfaction with communication decreases when the interpreter faces difficulties or when listeners encounter unexpected mentalese glitches in synchronous interpretation. During the translation process, the translator's brain is under constant strain. He has to quickly analyze and understand the meaning of statements in one language and then skillfully convey it in another. This continuous change between languages requires active use of the brain's linguistic resources.[5]

In addition, simultaneous interpreting requires the interpreter to be able to manage stress and pressure, as he or she must remain invisible despite the intensity of what is happening. This stimulates the activation of the areas of the brain responsible for regulating emotions. Prolonged practice of simultaneous interpreting can also lead to structural changes in the brain[4].

The impact of synchronous interpretation mentalese on psychology has a significant influence on the quality of communication and information perception. Further research in this field is necessary to gain a deeper understanding of these relationships and develop methods to reduce the negative psychological effects of synchronous interpretation. working as an interpreter has a significant impact on brain function. The continuous need to switch between two languages, analyze and communicate information in real time requires a high cognitive load and unique skills. Research suggests that this profession promotes cognitive abilities such as attention, concentration and working memory. It is also worth noting that the constant strain and the need to react instantly can lead to fatigue and stress. It is important to balance the workload and pay attention to taking care of the interpreter's mental health. In summary, working as an interpreter is undoubtedly a demanding job that affects the brain as a tool for professional growth, but also requires consideration and care for one's own well-being.
